Great to meet you!

Hi folks, bienvenidos! I'm a mid-life arriver to the mental health therapy field, starting in 2018, after having worked in humanitarian non-profits in Colombia for much of my adult life. I completed my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Regis University and worked for seven years in community mental health before starting my private practice. I'm fluently bilingual (English/Spanish), cis-het, White, and male. I believe my rich life history allows me to bring valuable experience, perspective, awareness, and humility to the therapeutic space we will create together.

My approach to therapy

I tend to be warm, curious, empathetic, accepting, and playful, and I welcome whatever thoughts and feelings you bring to session. I'm also analytical, grounded in science and evidence, and willing to challenge you in your growing edge and potential blind spots. I enjoy helping my clients develop practical tools and strategies to apply in their daily lives. I love meaning-making and supporting my clients in their journeys of self-discovery through companionship, gentle feedback, and positive regard. I have a special place in my heart for people who are healing from past traumas and adversities, and admire the deep courage that implies. If you are therapy-savvy, some modalities I pull from are IFS, DBT, EMDR, existential, person-centered, narrative, and systems therapy.

What you can expect from me

Trust and vulnerability take time, but our first session will focus on taking our initial steps toward that therapeutic relationship. We'll explore what concerns are bringing you to therapy, discuss hopes and expectations, answer any doubts and questions, and start getting to know your life story and current circumstances.
