Great to meet you!

I am a pilgrim in progress, a man of faith, a student of people, a mental health counselor, and an avid lover of stories. I am grateful to have a Bachelor of Science in Religion from Liberty University, and both a Master's of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. Professionally, I have worked with individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds including: grief, trauma, gender and sexuality, addiction, faith and spirituality, anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorders (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc.). I have served clients across a variety of ages, children to adults both in clinical settings and also in community (professional Christian ministry) settings.

My approach to therapy

I counsel from an evidence-based and existentially informed model of mental health counseling. This means that I am concerned not only with changing unwanted behavior, but also with addressing the root sources of that behavior. I believe in the core dignity of every person, a belief rooted in my Christian faith, which allows me to work with people from a variety of cultural, social, and spiritual backgrounds (Christian or otherwise). I work hard to build a relationship with my clients in which they feel safe and secure to reflect on their lives.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect to go through some initial intake information, and for me to offer a bit more detail about how I approach the therapeutic relationship. After this, I want to hear what brings clients to counseling, and to begin the process of building trust and safety in the room.
