Great to meet you!

My goal in therapy is to get to know your unique story, relational style, and inner conflicts, and to help illuminate and untangle the knots in your inner world. I am licensed in New York as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I work with adults, teens, and couples in person in the 5 Towns and on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, as well as throughout New York State via telehealth. I completed my post-graduate training at the Karen Horney Clinic in Manhattan and my graduate work in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Vanderbilt University.

My approach to therapy

Our work together is about identifying and healing the underlying psychological dynamics and inner conflicts that create the emotional distress and interpersonal conflicts that bring you to therapy. My work is rooted in the belief that symptoms like anxiety, depression, or confusion about identity are not signs of something “wrong” with you, but signals pointing toward deeper parts of yourself that are asking to be understood. I approach therapy with curiosity, respect, and a genuine interest in who you are and who you’re becoming.

My work is psychodynamic and relational, which means we pay attention together to what you feel, what you long for, and how you relate, both in your life and in the therapy room itself. Therapy is the process of bringing all of the parts of yourself, which often seem to be in conflict with one another, into relationship with each other, and ultimately, of discovering and learning to live in accord with yourself.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, you will do most of the talking. I'll ask you what brings you to therapy, and you'll tell me anything you'd like to. Everything is welcome. I'll ask clarifying questions, and also will answer any questions you have for me. We can discuss what you'd like to accomplish during your time in therapy, and how I as your therapist may help you accomplish your goals. I hope that as we get to know each other, we will feel that our relationship is characterized by mutual understanding and cooperation as we explore and experience the dilemmas and complexities of your life and the human experience.
