Great to meet you!

Let me help you become a better version of yourself: more assured, more calm, more in the moment; a person more connected to your purpose and not the rat race; a person who can tackle the hard parts of life and weather the storm using healthy strategies.

I work with people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, feelings of imposter syndrome, poor relationships with loved ones and co-workers/employees.

My clients are often high-achieving people who have career and financial success but are still figuring this whole life and mental health thing out. They often tell me that thoughts such as the ones below run through their head constantly.

“I have everything I worked for and still feel unhappy.

This achievement doesn’t feel the way I thought it would feel.

It’s only a matter of time before everyone figures out I don’t know what I’m doing.

I’m so sick of getting treated poorly because of who I am.

I feel like I have to hide the real me.

I wish my partner listened bettered, tried harder.

I wish I didn’t have to hide my relationship.

Why couldn’t my mom protect me when I was a kid?

Why didn’t my dad choose me?

Does anyone really love me for me?

Something’s wrong with me.

I’m done trying. It hurts too much.

I can’t let my guard down, that’s how they get you.”

Let me help you navigate these thoughts and the emotions they generate. Let me help you find relief and improve your mental health.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist (that means I have a PhD and rigorous training in psychotherapy and psychological research science). As a Black same gender loving male psychologist who is also the first in his family to become a doctor, I personally know the unique pressures of being a high achieving minoritized person navigating mental health, identity, stress, career, family, and romantic relationships. I get it.

My approach to therapy

Together we will cultivate an environment where you feel safe, affirmed, and supported to do the work of healing. I use a combination of culturally-informed cognitive, emotion-focused, and body-focused techniques to help you (1) better understand and effectively communicate your emotions, values, and needs; (2) develop tools to cope with prejudice, discrimination, and oppression in the world and at work and (3) improve your mental health and relationships. These things combined help you feel better.

What you can expect from me

Clients will leave sessions with (a) increased understanding and insight about their mental health; (b) feeling cared for and affirmed; and (c) tools to move toward their goals.
