I was a Private Practice psychotherapist for the Institute for Family Therapy for 11 years where my specialty was with Children ,Adolescents and their Families and also adults struggling with substance abuse of all types, major depression, Generalized Anxiety disorders, Bi-polar disorders, Adjustment disorders, schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders, and couples counseling. I also have 8 years of experience with Vitas Healthcare in Hospice services in end of life care to adults and Geriatric patients . Also Provided psycho-social support and counseling to hospice patients and provided Bereavement Counseling to patient families. I also have specialized in telehealth services in a Collaborative Healthcare environment and provided Behavioral Health care and psychotherapeutic Assessment and counseling to adults and geriatric patients.

My approach to therapy

My style is one of presenting myself as someone that is a very good active listener, very supportive, very present in the moment with the client. very empathic of clients situations and life experiences. I have a great deal of experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Behavioral Activation techniques and Emotional regulation strategies. Also Motivational interviewing strategies and emphasize the importance of building rapport with the client and in providing an effective Therapeutic Alliance in order to work on client difficulties together as a team.

What you can expect from me

The first session would be an opportunity to introduce ourselves to each other. To provide a warm and accepting environment where the client is comfortable to express their main concerns and struggles . To see if the client senses that I would be a good therapeutic fit for them. I would ask open questions and ascertain what the main presenting issues the client is struggling with and begin to discuss potential treatment planning and set up our next appt. If the client is interested in doing so.
