Great to meet you!
I became a psychiatric nurse practitioner because I've seen mental health care from multiple angles, and honestly, most of it is broken. 15-minute med checks where nobody listens? People told to "just try harder"? I wanted to do something different.
My background: 5 years as an EMT in LA, COVID ICU nurse, ER nurse at LAC+USC during the second wave, then charge nurse in inpatient psych. I'm board-certified (PMHNP-BC) with my MSN. I also trained under Dr. Marta Cola in advanced approaches for treatment-resistant conditions. Those years taught me what burnout, trauma, and compassion fatigue actually look like in real life.
I work with people dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and burnout. If you're a first responder, healthcare worker, or anyone who's spent so much time caring for others that you've forgotten about yourself, I get it. I've been there. I also work with the Latino community and offer fully bilingual services (English and Spanish).
