Hello, my name is Joey R Hernandez. I am a licensed clinical social worker and a board approved supervisor for the state of Texas. I have been in the social work field for 20+ years. I have been a therapist for 14 years. I have worked with various populations including children, teenagers, young adults, and older adults with diverse backgrounds and issues.
My approach to emotional healing focuses on identifying and modifying maladaptive cognitive and behavioral patterns to enhance mental and physical well-being. While I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), I believe that the best treatment is guided by each individual's unique circumstances and life experiences. Therefore, I also employ other therapeutic modalities, such as Solution-Focused,Behavior,and Psychodynamic Therapies, to help clients overcome improve their overall well-being.
Starting counseling can be exciting and a bit daunting. Knowing what to expect during your first session can ease anxiety and set the stage for a productive experience. We'll begin by getting to know you and your reasons for seeking therapy. Building rapport and a working relationship is key to your healing, fostering comfort and safety. We'll also discuss confidentiality, assessment, and set goals. My hope is that after our first session, you'll feel better and be on your way to recovery.
