Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Jose — a board-certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My background includes years of experience as a bedside nurse in inpatient medical-surgical and behavioral health settings, caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Through my training and practice, I’ve learned that every path to wellness is deeply personal. I’m passionate about collaborating with clients to understand their needs, build on their strengths, and take a motivational, compassionate approach to care.

I also recognize how difficult it can be to find LGBTQIA-affirming mental health support. My work is grounded in helping individuals release shame, embrace authenticity, and find balance through life’s challenges. Whether you’re navigating addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, or seeking affirming, identity-centered care, my goal is to support you in thriving and becoming your fullest self.

My approach to therapy

As a PMHNP, my approach to providing care is rooted in a holistic, patient-centered model that integrates evidence-based practice with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and therapeutic communication. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in their mental health journey. I prioritize thorough assessments that consider biological, psychological, and social factors, and I collaborate closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans. My care includes a balanced use of psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and education to promote long-term mental wellness. I also emphasize the importance of trauma-informed care and strive to reduce stigma by advocating for mental health awareness and accessibility. Continuous learning and professional development are central to my practice, ensuring that I stay current with advancements in psychiatric care to provide the highest quality support to my patients.

What you can expect from me

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, clients can expect to take away a deeper understanding of their mental health conditions, personalized treatment strategies, and practical tools to manage symptoms in their daily lives. Each session is a collaborative space where clients are heard, supported, and empowered to take an active role in their healing journey. I integrate evidence-based practices, including medication management when appropriate, psychoeducation, and supportive psychotherapy, tailored to each individual's unique needs. Clients will gain clarity about their emotional patterns, build healthier coping mechanisms, and work toward measurable goals for improved well-being. Over time, they can expect to feel more in control of their mental health, supported by a provider who prioritizes holistic, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
