Jose Taque

Hi, I’m Jose. I’m a licensed therapist, which means I have some coursework and some training to help us understand some of complex thoughts and feelings that may come up during our time together. I have worked in hospital, correctional, and educational settings. I have provided both treatment and education to those along the way.

Throughout my time in clinical practice and institutional work I’ve met all kinds of people; they have all taught me that the real work; the good, deep, human work, happens when we get past the credentials and just connect.

You’ll usually find Legos on my desk (for fidgeting, for thinking, and sometimes for the sheer tactile joy of it). There’s art and other reminders around my office that tell stories I love. I keep a piece or two of old analog tech around perhaps a testament to the idea that things don’t need to be new to have value, and that sometimes “progress” means knowing what’s worth keeping. It reflects my approach: we’ll use what works, be it simple or a little nostalgic.

You are not broken. You might be stuck, hurting, or replaying old patterns, but you are whole. My job isn’t to “fix” you; it’s to help you uncover your own resilience, wisdom, and maybe even a little humor about the human experience. I borrow from many approaches, but the core is always the same: you are the expert on you. I’m here to help you hear that expert's voice more clearly.

My favorite metaphor for therapy is cave diving. You’re the diver, exploring the depths of your own experience. It’s your cave. I’m the person joining you and holding the light steady so you can see the formations, avoid the sharp edges, and not lose your way.

Fist we’ll set a plan and path, reinforce strengths, motivations. Then we check our equipment and begin the journey. I can’t dive for you, but I am committed to making sure the light doesn’t flicker.
