Controlled Substance Policy
This policy applies to patients receiving care strictly through telehealth. If you can commit to attending in-person follow-up appointments at my practice location in Sun City, Arizona, I may consider prescribing controlled medications as part of your care plan.
For telehealth-only patients, I provide comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions. However, in accordance with safe prescribing practices, I do not initiate, manage, or continue controlled substances—including benzodiazepines, stimulants, or opioid/pain medications—in a telehealth-only setting, as these require in-person evaluation and monitoring. I can diagnose and manage conditions typically requiring these medications using alternative treatment approaches appropriate for virtual care. If your condition requires controlled substances and you cannot attend in-person visits, I can provide guidance and coordinate care with a local provider.
Disability and FMLA Paperwork Policy
Completion of disability, FMLA, or workplace accommodation paperwork requires an established therapeutic relationship with multiple visits to assess functional impairment and treatment response. Best practice typically requires a minimum of 3-4 clinical visits over several months to document your condition, limitations, and treatment response. Separate administrative visits for paperwork must be scheduled outside of medication management appointments. This ensures any recommended accommodations are medically appropriate and supported by sufficient clinical evidence.
