I practice an eclectic approach to psychotherapy. I use several techniques including supportive listening, exploration of communication patterns, reviewing of significant past and present relationships, and analyzing and resolving interpersonal problems. I will help and encourage you to express your emotions and feelings, to better understand your own emotional responses and how they impact your relationships. Together we can evaluate problems and issues, explore potential outcomes, and develop solutions that align with your goals. When appropriate we can explore concrete techniques for improving impulse control, emotional regulation, and frustration tolerance. For those clients who wish to engage in more long term psychodynamic oriented psychotherapy, we can focus on improving self-understanding, encouraging insight and developing self-awareness, and promoting stronger interpersonal relationships through self-exploration.
