Great to meet you!

Hello there, my name is Joe Sampson, and I would like to take this moment to acknowledge you for your courage in seeking therapy. Your decision to seek therapy, illustrates that you are ready to take an important step towards creating a future where your current struggles are no longer the driving force in your life. My role in this this process is to provide and create a therapeutic relationship by offering a listening ear for you to tell your story and collaboratively work towards your desired goal.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is to focus on the various strengths of the client. I will often allow a client to take the lead in his or her healing and self-discovery during the therapeutic process. I work with clients to be solution focused and goal oriented as they work from session to session. Clients are sometimes given homework from the session to complete put into practice and follow-up on in subsequent sessions. I also utilize some aspects and tools form Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) as well as some Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structural Family Therapy, Grief therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approaches.

What you can expect from me

As a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I am here to support you with evidence-based techniques and strategies to address issues of life stressors, anxiety, depression, familial struggles and significant trauma. Therapy does not have to be a scary process, when you work with the right therapist, it can be a wonderful journey of discovery and healing.
