I like to involve the patient in their plan of care. Everyone is different and as has their own unique personality and/or quirky behaviors that don't fit the text book cookie cutter plan of care. We collaboratively work together to make a plan that best fits you.
If you don't have the "buy in" for an idea or plan there's a much smaller chance your going to actually take action on that idea/plan. When you help to create your actual plan of care you have a lot more "buy in" for that plan.
I use a logic based collaborative approach mixed with a little humor. We talk candidly with a goal of decreasing distress, improving level of functioning, and leaving your visit feeling like you have a good plan of care.
Favorite quote:
Thor, everyone fails at who they're supposed to be. The measure of a person is how well they succeed at being who they are.
