Joshua Durkalski

My name is Joshua Durkalski and I was born and raised in a suburb just west of Cleveland named Lakewood. Raised by health care professional I developed a strong attitude of servant leadership, cultural competence and critical thinking skills. I received my bachelor’s degree in social work at Cleveland State University. I then continued my education at the University of Akron, obtaining a master’s in clinical social work. Through my clinical experience I have developed a strong passion for trauma informed care and am trained in both trauma focused – cognitive behavioral therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). I have had the opportunity to hone these skills first in the community mental health setting and more recently at a federally qualified healthcare centers.

You can anticipate an individualized trauma informed approach from me. I attempt to meet individuals where they’re at as they enter treatment and support where they would like to go. While I enjoy challenging individuals I allow you to set your own pace and be the captain of your own change.

You can anticipate an introductory session that allows you to explain your story and provide background information to your life. In the course of this meeting we will start to set goals of treatment. This goals setting process will be ongoing throughout treatment as we are able to obtain desired outcomes.
