I am a licensed professional counselor, a national certified counselor, and a certified professional counselor supervisor. My philosophy of counseling is inspired by the work of Carl Jung who incorporated concepts of archetypes into his theories and I am interested in discovering how we can apply these ideas to our daily lives using a depth psychology perspective. My preferred theoretical perspective is based on the work of Carl Jung which focuses more on the source of a problem than on its symptoms. Jung believed that the shadow, an individual’s repressed experiences and memories, results in an imbalance between conscious awareness and the unconscious mind that has a detrimental effect on one’s emotional life. In analysis, a patient must explore these forces and influences to achieve unity between the conscious and unconscious mind.
