Great to meet you!

I'm Josiah — a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) practicing via telehealth across California. My work centers on three communities I care deeply about: veterans navigating the often-invisible work of coming home, LGBTQ+ individuals and couples looking for a therapist who genuinely gets it, and parents who are doing their best while carrying more than they show. I'm Transgender Allied, trained in trauma-informed and multicultural frameworks, and I work with individuals, couples, and families. Before anything else, I work hard to make sure you feel like yourself in the session — not a diagnosis, not a file.

My approach to therapy

I pull from Emotionally Focused Therapy, DBT, and Trauma-Focused approaches — but I don't work from a script. I follow your lead. My sessions are direct without being clinical, and warm without being performative. We'll focus on what actually matters to you, not just symptom reduction. I believe the relationship between a client and their therapist is itself part of the healing — so I put real care into making sure you feel heard from the very first session. Expect honesty, some humor when it's welcome, and a genuine investment in your progress.

What you can expect from me

Plan on a real conversation. We'll talk about what brought you in, what's felt stuck, and what you're actually hoping for — not just what sounds like the right answer. I'll share a bit about how I work, what I think I can help with, and we'll see if the fit feels right. There's no pressure to commit to anything from that first session. My job in that hour is to make sure you leave feeling understood — and that you have enough information to decide if working with me makes sense for you.
