She is a trauma therapist with extensive experience working with people who have gone through trauma, dissociation, or abuse and neglect. She has worked with all types of trauma including sexual assault ,human trafficking, victims of crime or wartime injuries, and natural disasters . Along with these issues are depression, anxiety and a lot of loss and grieving. Joy works with her clients with a lot of warmth and caring, she is easy to talk to, doesn't push people to share if they aren't ready and is a great advocate. Joy shares information in ways that are easy to understand and in multiple formats to help people learn and grow to become empowered as they learn coping skills, self-compassion, deal with shame and guilt in ways to live more active and productive lives. Please don't hesitate to schedule an appointment today and start your own healing journey.

My approach to therapy

Joy uses many modalities including, Internal Family Systems, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Focused, Client Centered Somatic and Sensorimotor approaches and more.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a Therapist that listens to hear them and witness with them their experience. Joy teaches many different coping skills that includes the body and the mind. She is trained as in Clinical Hypnotherapy and uses techniques such as guided imagery to help calm the body and nervous system as well. She works to help each client find those coping skills that work best for them as an individual. This is important because some memories are stored in the body not just the mind.
