Great to meet you!

Greetings! Juan Carlos (JC) Barrera is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with adolescents and adults, offering an affirming and grounding space for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. Their work is rooted in the belief that healing begins when you are able to reconnect with yourself—your body, your identity, and your inner voice.

JC supports clients in exploring identity, navigating life transitions, and moving through experiences of anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. They are especially passionate about holding space for those on journeys of gender, sexuality, and cultural identity—honoring each person’s path with openness, curiosity, and care.

Their approach is gentle, collaborative, and attuned to the connection between mind and body. Together, you’ll be invited to slow down, reflect, and build awareness—creating room for clarity, self-acceptance, and meaningful change.

Whether you’re seeking grounding, healing, or a deeper connection to your authentic self, JC offers a space where you can breathe, be seen, and grow at your own pace.

My approach to therapy

JC focuses on providing a safe space for all their clients. Each individual they meet matters deeply to them as a mental health professional. One of their main goals is to assist individuals of all ages in developing functional coping skills that will assist them to enjoy living to their fullest potential. They also focus on helping their clients to build insight into how their body shows up, communicates with them and can serve as powerful tool to promote growth and healing.

What you can expect from me

Clients will leave each session feeling heard in a non-judgmental environment. JC uses a client-centered approach to come alongside each client, fostering healing, a sense of wholeness, self-compassion, and personal growth.
