Great to meet you!

Juan C. Escobedo MS, LPC, NCC, LLC

As a licensed clinician with over 27 years of experience in the fields of Mental/Behavioral Health and Addiction, I have dedicated my career to offering compassionate and evidence-based care to individuals, couples, and families seeking to overcome the challenges that impede their emotional and professional growth. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and am currently pursuing a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. My approach to therapy is distinctive, focusing on how stress, anxiety, depression, and anger contribute to the imbalances in our lives. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy to educate and empower my clients to regain control over their lives. My experience across various clinical settings has enabled me to implement valid and reliable interventions addressing issues such as anxiety, depressive symptoms, grief and loss, dependency needs, and trauma, ultimately supporting individuals in navigating their personal challenges and achieving their mental health objectives. Therapy plays a crucial role in fostering mental resilience and personal growth, offering individuals the tools and support necessary to navigate life's complexities. Beyond my private practice, I actively engage in coaching my children in their respective sports and maintain an active lifestyle at the gym. I have had the privilege of sharing my expertise with various school districts and organizations, guest lecturing at local colleges, and onboarding new interns and staff at Kennedy/Jefferson Hospital, all of which contribute to a well-rounded life. I am deeply committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for every individual seeking therapy.

My approach to therapy

My approach to working with clients is grounded in a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. I create a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. Through CBT, we identify and challenge negative thought patterns, while Exposure Therapy helps clients confront and reduce anxiety related to specific fears. Mindfulness practices are integrated to foster present-moment awareness and self-compassion. Narrative Therapy allows clients to reframe their life stories and develop a more empowering self-narrative. My goal is to provide a holistic and personalized treatment plan that promotes emotional resilience, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being.

What you can expect from me

My primary goal when working with clients is to foster a therapeutic environment that is safe, supportive, and empowering. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, validated, and comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions. By setting clear, attainable goals, we work collaboratively to develop skills for managing stress, anxiety, and depression. My approach integrates evidence-based practices that collectively aim to improve emotional resilience, enhance self-awareness, and promote overall well-being. Ultimately, I strive to help clients achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life.
