Great to meet you!

I'm Juan Carlos Martell, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida who believes therapy should feel like a real conversation — not a clinical evaluation. My approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Existential Therapy to help us work through what's weighing you down while reconnecting with what actually matters to you.

I work with adults and teens in navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-doubt, and the quiet question of "is this really the life I want?" Sessions with me are warm, practical, and free of jargon. You'll leave with tools you can actually use — not just insight, but real strategies for your everyday life.

Outside the therapy room, I'm a published author of The Adventures of Kevin & Friends, a children's mental health book series designed to help families talk openly about emotions. I'm also the creator of PsychLife on Instagram, where I make psychology accessible for everyone, and the founder of MindfulPractice, an upcoming mental health app rooted in CBT, ACT, and mindfulness.

Everything I do comes back to one mission: making mental health real, relatable, and within reach. You don't have to figure it out alone.

Be the artist of your own life.

My approach to therapy

I work through an integrative lens that views each person across four dimensions: body, mind, emotion, and purpose. Rather than treating a symptom in isolation, I help clients address all four together, because lasting change happens when they work as one.

My practice blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Existential therapy. CBT gives you practical tools — identifying and shifting the thought patterns that fuel anxiety, breaking unhelpful cycles, and building real coping skills for the mind and body. Existential therapy holds space for the bigger picture — emotion, meaning, identity, and the question of what kind of life you actually want to be living.

Together, this means we don't just quiet anxious thoughts; we notice how that anxiety lives in the body, what emotions sit underneath it, and whether it's pointing toward something deeper about your purpose. The result is therapy that offers both immediate, practical relief AND lasting clarity.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about connection, not evaluation. We'll start by getting to know each other — I want to hear your story in your own words, what brought you here, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. There's no pressure to have it all figured out. I'll ask thoughtful questions to understand what you're carrying, and we'll talk about what working together could look like. You'll leave with a clearer sense of direction, a feeling of being genuinely heard, and maybe even a bit of relief — because taking the first step is often the hardest part, and you've already done it.
