Great to meet you!

Hi there. I am so glad you are here. My name is Julia Ahumada and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia. My passion is helping people overcome challenges and empower them to lead the live they want to lead! The foundation of my therapeutic practice is to operate from a strengths-based and collaborative approach. One of the first things I do is create a strong therapeutic alliance with all of my clients. Through providing the client unconditional positive regard and a non-judgmental space the client feels safe to begin a journey of self-discovery by exploring their strengths, challenges and areas for growth. My therapeutic approach is eclectic. I incorporate various evidence-based therapeutic modalities including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy, strength-based therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness into each session, I tailor my sessions to meet the unique needs of each client. My hope is that each client gains insight, builds resilience and has in increased sense of well-being in our time together. I am looking forward to beginning this journey with you. A journey of 1000 miles begins with one step - Rumi

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is eclectic. I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy and Play Therapy. I do not believe in one size fits all therapy. I meet the client where they are. Each session will be tailored to the client goals. Our sessions will be relaxing and insightful. I also like to incorporate mindfulness into sessions.

What you can expect from me

The client will walk away from sessions feeling heard, valued and validated. It will be a safe space for the client to voice their concerns. It is a judgment free zone.
