Great to meet you!

My name is Julia Benavides, and I am a bilingual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I work with children, adolescents, and adults, providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management.

Before becoming a PMHNP, I worked as a registered nurse in critical care, where I saw how closely mental and physical health are connected. That experience inspired me to pursue psychiatry and help people better understand their symptoms and find a treatment plan that fits their individual needs.

I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, and insomnia. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and centered on helping you understand your diagnosis and feel confident in your treatment plan.

¡Hola!

My approach to therapy

My approach starts with getting to know you and understanding the full picture of what you've been experiencing. I take the time to complete a thorough psychiatric evaluation, listen to your concerns, and explore the factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. Together, we'll develop a treatment plan that fits your needs, which may include medication management, education about your diagnosis, and lifestyle recommendations. My goal is to help you better understand your mental health, feel supported throughout the process, and make informed decisions about your care.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is focused on getting a complete understanding of your mental health. I'll ask detailed questions about your current symptoms, medical history, past psychiatric treatment, medications, family history, lifestyle, and any other factors that may be affecting how you're feeling. While it may seem like a lot of questions, each one helps me make an accurate assessment and prescribe medications safely when appropriate.

By the end of the visit, we'll discuss my clinical impressions, answer any questions you have, and develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs. My goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of your symptoms and a clear plan for moving forward.
