Great to meet you!

I’m Julianne Berol, a dual board-certified Nurse Practitioner with experience in both Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nursing (AGACNP-BC) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP-BC). My experience in both medical and psychiatric care allows me to look at mental health from a comprehensive perspective, recognizing that physical health, medications, life experiences, and emotional well-being are often closely connected.

I’m passionate about providing compassionate, individualized psychiatric care and believe that seeking mental health care is an important step. My goal is to create an environment where clients feel comfortable, respected, heard, and free from judgment.

I take the time to understand each client as a whole person rather than viewing them solely through the lens of a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. I believe that mental health care should be collaborative and personalized, with treatment plans that reflect each person's unique needs, goals, preferences, and circumstances.

My approach to therapy

My approach is patient-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based. I recognize that no two people experience mental health concerns in exactly the same way, and treatment should be individualized accordingly.

I view medication management as one part of comprehensive psychiatric care. When medication is appropriate, I focus on helping clients understand their treatment options, including potential benefits, risks, and alternatives, so they can participate fully in decisions about their care.

I also believe that effective psychiatric care involves looking beyond symptoms. Life experiences, relationships, stressors, physical health, sleep, and other factors can all influence mental well-being. Together, we will identify meaningful treatment goals and develop a plan that fits your needs and circumstances.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and develop a clear understanding of what brings you to treatment. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, mental health history, medical history, medications, previous treatment experiences, and your goals for care.

Depending on your needs, we may also discuss treatment options, including medication management and therapeutic strategies. I will take the time to explain recommendations and answer your questions so that you understand your options before making treatment decisions.

You should expect your first appointment to be conversational and collaborative—not simply a checklist of questions. There is no expectation that you have everything figured out before you come in. My goal is for you to leave your first appointment feeling heard, informed, and with a clear understanding of the next steps in your care.
