Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Julianne Silva and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold my Master's Degree from the School of Social Work at Monmouth University, completing my graduate career in 2015. I attended Rutgers University as an undergraduate, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Education, graduating in 2013.

I have been in the Social Work field for 10+ years with extensive experience in many different roles. I have worked as a Social Worker in an inpatient psychiatric setting and am familiarized with the inpatient/discharge process. I have also worked as a Social Worker in the medical field (hospital setting) and have experience working as an In-Home Therapist. Currently, I am a School Social Worker on a Child Study Team in a school setting full-time as well as an Outpatient Therapist part-time. I specialize in working with children, adolescents and young adults along with parents/guardians and families. I also specialize in working with individuals with anxiety and depressive symptoms, suicide ideation, self-harm, grief and am knowledgable in the area of de-escalation techniques. I am a Certified Crisis Prevention Institute (de-escalation) trainer and am trained in Psychological First Aid. I also specialize in working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and/or experiencing Intellectual Disabilities. I am looking forward to working with you!

My approach to therapy

I like to explain my approach as "true-to-life and warm". I approach all of my clients with compassion and empathy while utilizing reality-based thinking/testing, specializing in a Cognitive Behavior Therapy approach. I work at the level my clients are currently functioning to help empower them in their therapy journey.

What you can expect from me

I hope for my clients to take away skills they are seeking in each therapy session, whether that be coping skills or feeling better usage of communication skills. As well, an overall feeling of self-advocation, self-empowerment and comfortability in the therapeutic process.
