Great to meet you!

Hello! I work with adults, elders, and emerging adults, helping with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, and adoption. I hold an MS in Mental Health Counseling and have worked in the field in Community Mental Health, in private practice, and in outpatient practices for 6 years. I like to work humanistically, getting to know my clients and working with them to determine how best to help them attain their goals. Sometimes those goals are simply to stop hurting and suffering, other goals may go deeper to manage the effects of abuse or neglect in their childhood, or manage life changes including in relationships, marriage, divorce, adoption, parenting, and aging.

My approach to therapy

My work is highly collaborative and nonjudgemental. We use talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (how we think and how we act), somatic (physical) symptoms and signs, and mindfulness/Zen philosophy and action. I also use insights from neuroscience, Zen Buddhism, and an awareness of societal and family structures that can deeply affect us all.

What you can expect from me

During our first session we will talk about you--your goals, your aspirations, how you want your life to be different. I will want to get to know you as much as possible (in a first session!) and give you a chance to get to know more about how we can work together. Together we will put together a plan for our work, one that feels do able and ultimately, helpful for you.
