Great to meet you!

My name is Julie Johns I went to school in Richmond VA for my undergraduate degree in social work and Northern Virginia for my masters in clinical social work. I have worked in a variety of settings such as hospitals, schools and private practice. I have a wide range of knowledge and skills with trauma therapy and eye movement therapy. as well as working with individuals who suffer with anxiety, depression and life transitions. I have worked within different populations identifying my clients individualized needs and creating treatment plans to help address and support their goals.

My approach to therapy

I strive to teach clients how to empower themselves and shift perspective through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution- Focused Brief Therapy and person -centered approaches. I utilize mindfulness practices such a visualization meditations and deep breathing which will help you reconnect your body and mind. While providing a non-judgmental space for you. My role is to support you in processing the hardships and celebrating your successes. Our sessions will involve creating goals, exploring coping skills and learning to manage your everyday anxiety. You will not be alone in your healing process, I will strive to show you the power that already exists within you.

What you can expect from me

During the first session the focus will be to explore and identify your goals and current stressors that have brought you into therapy. My goal is to make this experience as comfortable and open as possible so you are able to feel heard and seen throughout this time.
