Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Julie Karanja, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I have been in the helping profession for over 20 years and have worked at SOZO Therapy Group for more than three years. I consider it an honor to walk alongside individuals who take the brave step of beginning their therapy journey.

I enjoy supporting individuals through grief and loss, relational challenges—including betrayal trauma—and working with women and couples as they navigate their reproductive journeys. I have held a certification in Perinatal Mental Health for over five years, bringing specialized training and care to this area of my work.

My approach to therapy

My goal is simple: I want you to feel genuinely safe the moment you walk through the door (or log on!). This is your space — a place to breathe, be honest, and begin to heal without judgment.

I draw from a range of approaches, including nervous system awareness, mindfulness, and narrative therapy, because I believe healing happens best when we tend to the whole person — your mind, your body, and your story. Together, we'll find what works best for you.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is all about getting comfortable. I'll walk you through what to expect from the counseling process so there are no surprises — just a calm, welcoming conversation where we start to get to know each other. We'll begin exploring what brought you here and start shaping goals that feel meaningful to you.

More than anything, my hope is that you leave each session feeling a little more like yourself — more grounded, more at ease, and more at home in your own story.
