Great to meet you!

My name is Julie Pate and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I honor the importance of a trusting therapeutic relationship with each and every client in order to produce healthy growth and change. I view therapy as collaborative with clients, taking a holistic approach, and valuing individualized care. I've helped those struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity issues, and eating disorders.

I've previously worked in community mental health clinics, juvenile probation, residential facilities for eating disorders, and private practice (currently the Director at Empower & Elevate).

My approach to therapy

My goal is to create a safe place for clients to support their most authentic selves. I believe therapy is collaborative and clients are capable of growth when provided the opportunity of an accepting space to share their story.

As a therapist, I value helping clients identify strengths and new ways of coping to work toward their goals along with making new insights. I believe people have the tools they need to approach life, but sometimes need help identifying those tools.

I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients process core beliefs about themselves and challenge deeper emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I support clients by identifying a variety of coping skills and utilizing dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills.

What you can expect from me

I'm naturally curious and hate assumptions, so I'll be asking clarifying questions to get to know you. I honor my personal values of transparency and authenticity within the therapeutic dynamic. I'm a big believer in giving feedback as well as being open to receiving feedback.
