Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Julie! I hold a Master's degree (MA) and am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. I am also trained in other effective treatment modalities, including Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acudetox (ear acupuncture). Additionally, I offer cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES), which is effective in treating anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

I am driven by a desire to guide and empower you through your past and present struggles and into your best life. I have 15+ years of experience helping clients navigate stress, trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship difficulties, substance misuse, historical/intergenerational trauma, domestic violence and more.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is culturally sensitive, inclusive, respectful, compassionate, and person-first. I aim to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for all, regardless of color, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, citizenship status, etc., because I believe that every person has worth and dignity and deserves the opportunity to experience emotional happiness, hope, health, relief, and recovery.

What you can expect from me

Good therapy is built on connection, and at Resilience & Recovery at Broken Shovels, I offer a unique counseling experience to foster that connection. Here, you have the opportunity to engage in traditional talk therapy in the office or while walking and interacting with animal friends outside on our farm sanctuary property. Along with traditional psychotherapy, I incorporate animal-assisted interventions to help you transform anxiety, depression, and loneliness into joy, freedom, and connectedness. Engaging with animals can release endorphins that produce a calming effect, which can help alleviate pain, reduce stress, and improve your overall psychological state.
