Great to meet you!

Before I get to know you, it's only fair you get to know me. In my personal life, I’m known as the friend who speaks her mind. I don't take my role as therapist lightly, but I do tend to bring my trademark ‘dry’ sense of humor to it when appropriate. My insatiable curiosity of human nature, as well as a true desire to listen and learn from others, brought me to this work.

I'm a licensed therapist and board-approved clinical supervisor, LCSW-S, in the state of Texas. I've provided trauma-informed, cross-cultural therapy for over ten years in private practice, intensive outpatient program, integrated behavioral health, primary care, and nonprofit settings. I earned an MSW focused in clinical mental health from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. I'm a person-centered therapist who integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), among other treatment modalities. I merge evidence-based practices with the context of your life; whether it's skills building, challenging unhelpful beliefs and learning something new, or processing through whatever is standing in the way.

My approach to therapy

I know that therapy is not only more effective but also more enjoyable when it's relational, connected, and collaborative. I create a safe and trusting space where we can collaboratively explore life’s challenges by providing therapy that is nonjudgmental, approachable, and welcoming. I balance my straightforward and directive therapeutic style with validation, empathy, and genuineness -taking the time to earn your trust. I'm here to help with the heavy stuff, but I also know the power of self-discovery and mental health maintenance.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, we'll check in on where you are now and where you want to go. We'll explore what you've already tried, what was helpful or unhelpful in the past, and what's currently getting in the way. We'll spend time learning about each other, and collaboratively plan the route we'll take going forward. Throughout sessions, I will ask for feedback to make sure we are going in the direction that you want.
