Great to meet you!

My name is Julio Alberto Ibarra, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Brownsville, Texas. I have over 15 years of experience working in the mental health field with children, adolescents, adults, and families, and for the past six years I have been practicing as a licensed therapist.

I specialize in helping individuals who are struggling with anxiety, stress, ADHD, and depression. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with children, teenagers, and adults to help them better understand their emotions and develop practical strategies to manage daily challenges.

I hold a Master’s degree in Education, am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and have additional training in ADHD treatment (ADHD-PT). My focus is on helping clients gain greater control over their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so they can improve their overall well-being and function more effectively in their daily lives.

My goal as a therapist is to create a supportive and structured environment where clients can learn the skills needed to manage emotional difficulties and build confidence in their ability to create meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is practical, structured, and focused on helping clients develop tools they can apply in everyday life. I primarily use evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Unified Protocol to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

I work collaboratively with clients to identify patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, stress, depression, or ADHD-related challenges. From there, we focus on building skills that help regulate emotions, improve coping strategies, and support long-term change.

I believe that many individuals already have the capacity to create positive change within themselves. Therapy becomes a space where we strengthen that ability by learning how thoughts influence emotions and how intentional actions can lead to improved emotional control. My style is supportive and direct, and I aim to empower clients with tools that help them feel more confident in managing their mental health.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where they can openly share their concerns and goals. The initial meeting focuses on understanding what brings you to therapy, discussing your current challenges, and identifying areas where you would like to see change.

We will begin exploring how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact, and together we will establish clear and realistic goals for therapy. I also provide an overview of how therapy works, what approaches we may use, and how we can track progress over time.

My goal for the first session is for clients to feel heard, understood, and hopeful about the process. You can expect a structured but comfortable space where we begin building practical strategies to help you gain greater control over anxiety, stress, depression, or ADHD symptoms and move toward meaningful improvement in your daily life.
