Great to meet you!

I’m Julio A. Ibarra, a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with teens, young adults, adults, and parents. I especially enjoy helping people navigate anxiety, ADHD, depression, stress, emotional challenges, school difficulties, family conflict, and life transitions.

My approach is professional, but I’m also very human. I enjoy music, movies, anime, video games, cartoons, and learning about the things that matter to my clients. I believe therapy works best when you don’t feel like you have to become a different version of yourself just to walk into the room.

My goal is to create a space where you can be yourself, better understand what’s happening, develop practical skills, and feel more confident handling challenges outside of therapy. I provide virtual therapy throughout Texas in both English and Spanish.

My approach to therapy

I don’t believe therapy should feel like someone sitting across from you telling you how to live your life. I see it as a collaborative process where we work together to understand what’s happening and figure out what may actually help.

My primary approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Unified Protocol, and Triple P – Positive Parenting Program. Depending on your needs, we may explore the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and actions; learn new ways of responding to difficult emotions; improve communication; or develop practical parenting strategies.

I want you to understand why we’re doing something in therapy—not just give you another worksheet or coping skill. The goal is to help you build skills and confidence that you can use in your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what you want to say before we meet.

We’ll talk about what has been happening, what you would like to be different, and what you hope to get from therapy. I’ll also ask questions to better understand your experiences, strengths, relationships, and current challenges. From there, we can begin identifying goals and deciding together what might be helpful moving forward.

For teens, I also want them to feel like therapy is their space, not somewhere they were simply sent because an adult thinks something is wrong with them. Parents can be involved when appropriate while we also make room for the teen to develop their own voice and participate in the process.
