Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Kait Towner, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (PMH-C). My passion is supporting individuals, parents, and families as they navigate some of life's most profound, beautiful, and challenging transitions.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from the University of Rochester. Over my years in private practice, I have specialized in perinatal mental health, early childhood, and family dynamics. As a parent myself, I know firsthand that the transition into parenthood is rarely a straight line. I bring this lived understanding, alongside deep clinical training, to help my clients feel truly seen, validated, and held.

I specialize in working with:

  • Perinatal and Postpartum Individuals: Supporting mothers and partners navigating postpartum anxiety (PPA), depression (PPD), rage, intrusive thoughts, and the identity shifts of parenthood.
  • Parents & Young Families: Helping parents navigate the early years of childhood, behavioral challenges, and bonding.
  • Specialized Modalities: I utilize highly effective, somatic, and trauma-informed approaches—including Brainspotting, Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)—to help clients process stress and trauma at a nervous system level.

Whether you are struggling with a difficult birth recovery, experiencing overstimulation and burnout, or trying to understand your child's unique needs, you do not have to carry it alone. I provide convenient, secure telehealth sessions across all of New York State.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, warm, and deeply respectful of your unique nervous system. I don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" therapy. Instead, I blend traditional talk therapy with evidence-based, somatic, and brain-body modalities like Brainspotting.

I operate from the belief that you are the expert on your own life and your own family. My role is to provide a grounded, non-judgmental space where we can gently untangle old patterns, soothe chronic overstimulation, and build practical, real-world tools. We will work together at a pace that feels safe for you, focusing not just on managing symptoms, but on helping you feel deeply connected to yourself and your loved ones again.

What you can expect from me

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel vulnerable, so my priority for our first session is to make you feel safe, comfortable, and heard.

Our initial session is a gentle, collaborative intake. There is no pressure to "fix" everything right away or share things before you are ready. We will spend our time:

  • Getting to know one another and establishing a comfortable rhythm.
  • Discussing what has been feeling heavy or overwhelming lately, as well as what is working well for you.
  • Beginning to map out your goals—whether that is finding relief from acute anxiety, learning how to regulate your nervous system, or gaining confidence in your parenting.

You will leave our first session with a clear, supportive roadmap for our work together, and hopefully, a sense of relief that you finally have a dedicated space just for you.
