When I was younger, I was given a bookmark with a Leonard Cohen quote saying “There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.” I feel like this embodies how I view therapy. My goal always is to make meaning out of pain and help you understand how it has molded you into the person you are today. You take the lead as the expert on yourself. I am simply here to help with directions.
I want to make sure we are discussing the things you want to focus on. It can easily become a habit to avoid talking about the big, hard stuff because often that is the truly terrifying things we don't want to touch. I am here to help unpack those struggles in a safe environment. I love a laugh but am also here as a virtual shoulder to cry on.
My clients can expect thoughtful conversation, supportive words and some humor where appropriate in a session with me. I am person centered and will check in with you to make sure we are talking about the important things to help you reach your goals. When agreed upon, I enjoy discussing manageable step my clients can take each week to work on getting where they want to be. I also am an avid reader myself and am always open to suggest books that relate to my client's real world experiences.
