Great to meet you!

I’m Kali, and I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California since 2007. I want to help you have the relationships you want with yourself and with others. I have an MA in Applied Behavioral Science, with a concentration in Systems Counseling. What this means for you, practically speaking, is that as I work with you, I am also thinking about all of the other people, family and friends, co-workers and acquaintances, who are a part of and influential in your life, and you in theirs. I’m also thinking about the relationship you have with yourself, and how all of the parts of you, past, present and future interplay with each other and the world around you. Which is a long-winded way of saying I want to help you have the relationship you want with yourself and with others. I want you to find happiness, joy and health. I'd like to help you identify and meet your goals, and I am a warm, supportive presence whether or not you have any idea as to what your goals might be.

My approach to therapy

I am very much focused on helping you identify what your unmet needs are, and helping you meet and nourish those parts of yourself. I help you focus on your strengths and lean on them to achieve your goals, while also identifying areas where you would like to grow and strengthen yourself. I use humor, empathy and curiosity along the way, so that the process is, believe or not, fun! Ok, maybe not fun, per se. I am big fan of both/and, so: There will be light and laughter while we explore the challenges and difficulties you are facing in your life. We can hold great joy and great pain in our hearts and our consciousness at the same time, and I would like to help you do that as you grow through those moments. So, yes, we can have fun. And we can work as hard as you would like to as well.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I would like to understand what led you to seek therapy and what you are hoping to achieve. We’ll explore what’s been going on for you, as well as what feels most important to focus on moving forward. I also want this to be an opportunity for you to get a sense of me—my style, my sense of humor, my pacing, and how I show up in sessions—so you can decide if it feels like a good fit.

I am a strong believer that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important tools for growth. Feeling comfortable, understood, and connected in this space can make a meaningful difference in the work we do together. My goal is to create an environment where you feel supported, respected, and confident in moving forward with the process.
