Great to meet you!
I'm Kamilah Thomas, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience and I specialize in something most therapists won't say out loud: helping high-achieving women stop performing "fine."
You've built the career. You show up for everyone. From the outside, your life looks exactly like it's supposed to. But inside, you're exhausted, quietly overwhelmed, and wondering why success still doesn't feel like enough. That's not a character flaw. That's what happens when high-achieving women are conditioned to carry everything and ask for nothing, especially Black women who've spent years being strong for everybody else.
My work is grounded in helping women unpack that conditioning, reconnect with themselves, and build lives that actually match how capable they are, not just how productive they appear.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, burnout, and relationship stress. I have a particular passion for working with Black women navigating the intersection of professional success and personal depletion, aka the Strong Black Woman schema.
My approach is direct, culturally grounded, and collaborative. I'm not going to sit quietly and nod for 50 minutes. I'll ask the question that cuts through, offer the perspective you haven't considered, and hold you accountable — with warmth, not pressure. Clients who work well with me tend to be self-aware, ready to do real work, and done with surface-level support.
