Great to meet you!

Welcome to the neighborhood!

My name is Kamone’ Hyman, LMSW (he/him), also known as Your Friendly Gay Neighborhood Social Worker.

I bring three years of post-graduate therapy experience and a deep passion for supporting BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized individuals navigating trauma, mood concerns, life transitions, and identity-related stressors. My therapeutic style is warm, affirming, and collaborative, drawing from TF-CBT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered therapy. I blend practical tools with compassion, humor, and authenticity to create a space where clients feel empowered, understood, and supported on their path toward sustainable healing.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care, with a strong focus on trauma, identity, and emotional healing. I create an affirming space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered, while integrating practical tools from TF-CBT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered therapy. Together, we work to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and support meaningful change that extends beyond the therapy room.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session with me to feel welcoming, supportive, and intentionally paced. We’ll focus on building a genuine therapeutic connection while exploring what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from the process. I value authenticity and collaboration, and I approach each session through a trauma-informed, culturally responsive lens, with no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. We’ll also review confidentiality, address any questions, and identify initial goals or coping tools so you leave feeling seen, supported, and clear about next steps.
