Great to meet you!

Clients should know that my work is deeply personal to me. I was born and raised in Houston, and before I ever became a therapist, I had already survived cancer three times. Those early experiences shaped my resilience, strengthened my empathy, and grounded my commitment to walking alongside people during some of the hardest seasons of their lives.

In college, I became active in public health and advocacy work. I served as Mistress of Ceremonies for the American Cancer Society Walk, was recognized as a “Mover and Shaker” for addressing HIV/AIDS in urban communities, and later contributed to the U.S. President’s HIV/AIDS Task Force in Washington, D.C. I spent a decade with Mothers Against Drunk Driving supporting victims and families through trauma and grief. I also served internationally as the first Director of the Psychology Department at an international school in Shanghai, China, developing mental health programming for students and families.

I co-founded Pretty Girls with CancerTM, a nonprofit supporting cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers, and created the Mind, Body & Soul Therapeutic Retreat to integrate mental health into cancer care spaces.

What this means for you as a client is simple: I don’t just understand resilience academically — I understand it personally. I bring both professional expertise and lived experience into the therapy room.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, structured, and trauma-informed. I bring experience working with adolescents, adults, and seniors across hospital, community, and residential settings, supporting clients through grief, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, caregiver stress, and emotional regulation challenges.

As a three-time cancer survivor who has also experienced significant personal loss, I understand medical trauma and grief both personally and professionally. I combine empathy with practical, evidence-based tools—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—to help clients build resilience, gain clarity, and create meaningful change tailored to their unique story and strengths.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to make you feel comfortable from the very beginning. In our first session, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope will feel different in your life.

I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences, patterns, strengths, and stressors. We may explore how anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions are showing up for you. Most importantly, I want to understand you — not just your symptoms.

You can expect:

  • A warm, non-judgmental space
  • Honest and direct/ transparent conversation
  • Clear explanations of how therapy works
  • A collaborative plan tailored to your goals
