Great to meet you!

Hi I'm Kaomi! (She/Her/Hers) Welcome! You are in the right place. As a Cuban-American woman, I have experienced Texas’ diverse cultures that have shaped my understanding of identity, resilience and the complexity of the human experience. Many of the clients I have worked with have presented with complex diagnoses, including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and co-occurring substance use and trauma histories. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of starting with clients where they are and approaching care through a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective.

I am accepting new clients via telehealth sessions for weekend and evening appointments. I am a master level social worker currently practicing under the supervision of Michele Frances Purvin, LCSW-S, LCDC working towards my clinical licensure. As a supervised clinician, I regularly consult with experienced professionals to ensure you’re receiving thoughtful, ethical, and well-supported care.

My approach to therapy

I earned my Master of Social Work from Baylor University, where my clinical training deepened my interest in mental health treatment across varied populations. I have training and experience working with trauma, grief and loss, mood disorders, anxiety, and individuals impacted by severe and persistent mental illness. My clinical approach integrates evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, strengths-based therapy, and psychodynamic-informed techniques. I pull from Dr. Bruce D Perry’s, Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) to assess the root of behaviors and patterns.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to provide you a safe and nonjudgemental space to explore your thoughts, emotions and patterns with honesty and curiosity. Together, we will work to increase insight, build coping skills, and reframe challenges in ways that feel more manageable and empowering. My job is to help you hold the heavy emotions, as we foster a healing experience in an environment grounded in trust, empathy, and respect. Together, we will work to increase your personal insight, build coping skills, and reframe challenges in ways that feel more manageable and empowering.
