Hi Everyone! My name is Kara Gubner. I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with over 10 years of experience in the counseling field. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, psychotic disorders, career challenges, OCD, and ADHD. I also have experience working with people with developmental disabilities and ASD.
My counseling style is open, empathetic, non-judgmental, and interactive. My approach is person-centered and it combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and rational-emotive counseling. However, I typically tailor counseling sessions/dialog and treatment plan to meet each person’s unique and specific needs.
I offer an open and welcoming environment for clients to share as much or as little as they'd like to. I work with clients on increasing their self-awareness to better understand themselves in order to better assist on improving their situation, and recognizing patterns, whether they be good or bad, and work together to see what each client would like to improve at their own time/pace/preference.
