Great to meet you!

I graduated from Portland State University in 1994 with a Master's degree in social work. During the past 30 years, I have worked primarily in private practice. My background, however, has been in the fields of domestic violence, child and family services, medical social work, and law enforcement.

My approach to therapy

Many clients who come to therapy admit that it is their "last resort". Oftentimes they are in an emotional crisis. I understand this and allow them to set the pace. I want the client to feel comfortable as they disclose very personal information. I offer support and reassurance that provides them with a safe place as we build a therapeutic relationship.

I work with the person-in-environment focus; person, family, community. All are woven in as we work with a cognitive-behavioral approach.

What you can expect from me

I assist the client to change a perspective when approaching a problem. I work with educating the client in adapting new strategies and give them the opportunity to use them between therapy sessions. I use solution focused problem solving rather that sitting in a problem. The foundation of my work is to assist the client reach his/her stated goals. In doing so, it empowers the client to not only survive, but thrive.
