Great to meet you!

My name is Karen. I was born & raised in England. I emigrated to America & with an MA in English, worked in education where my communication skills resulted in me helping adolescents & their families with various challenges. I have an MA in Mental Health Counseling, an LPC in NJ, and experience in an outpatient facility and private practice. I currently have my own practice, assisting individuals, couples, & families build, repair, and maintain relationships while also working on themselves.

My approach to therapy

As a counselor, I work with clients to track patterns of thoughts and behaviors for deeper self-reflection and growth. Many times, this involves revisiting past events and conflicts in order to establish a healthier way forward. In my direct approach, I challenge individuals to examine their perceptions, while also offering new ways to look at situations. In life's many transitions, people can forget to be introspective and understand they, too, are changing. I help navigate these adjustments.

What you can expect from me

I typically work towards goals regarding self-worth - for clients to feel confident, establish, or redefine their own identities - and then cultivate (or separate from) relationships. I foster a safe and empathetic environment where individuals or couples feel comfortable being vulnerable and honest in their work with me.
