Great to meet you!

Healing from trauma isn't about getting over it or moving on. It's about understanding what your nervous system learned in order to survive, and gently teaching it something new. I'm Karen Krider, an LPC, NCC, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor with more than a decade of clinical experience, including years of crisis work with veterans at the national level.

I specialize in complex trauma (CPTSD), PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, attachment disorders, eating disorders, and substance use. Most people who find me arrive exhausted. They've been stuck in patterns they can't explain, often convinced nothing will work. Your symptoms make sense. Anxiety, emotional dysregulation, disconnection, and fractured relationships are often your mind and body's best attempts to adapt to painful experiences. They're evidence that you survived something hard.

My approach to therapy

I work from a neuroscience-informed, trauma-focused foundation, and every plan is built around you specifically rather than a standard protocol.

The modalities I use go beyond talk therapy. Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing help your nervous system process what it's been holding, rather than patch symptoms at the surface. My style is warm and collaborative, and we move at a pace that feels both safe and meaningful.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know each other. There's no pressure to share everything at once. We'll talk about what brought you here, what you're hoping for, and start sketching what working together might look like. I'll ask questions, but mostly I'll listen to what you're carrying and what matters most right now.

You don't need to have anything figured out before we begin. You only need to take the first step.
