Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Karen! I'm a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 10 years experience working in various mental health settings. I specialize in helping first and second generation women who are exploring what it's like to prioritize themselves in a world that constantly tells them how they should live. I enjoy working with women who experience depression, anxiety, body image concerns, and who have a history of trauma. I take a trauma-informed and fat liberation approach to care. As a Spanish-speaking eldest daughter of immigrants, I understand the complexities of the first gen experience. I am committed to helping my clients reclaim their identity in a way that is also honors their culture.

My approach to therapy

When working with clients, I use a trauma-informed and social-justice oriented lens to care. I use Dialectical-Behavioral, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment approaches to help my clients live in greater accordance to their values.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect us to discuss the target areas for our work together. Through honesty, trust, humor, and collaboration, I create a safe space for you to discuss the ways in which you would like to grow through therapy. I take a holistic approach to treatment, and look forward to learning about all the aspects of your life that make you unique!
