Great to meet you!

I'm Karen Wallace, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in South Florida, and I work with adults, teens, and young adults across the state through virtual therapy. I specialize in trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and substance use — and I bring a culturally informed lens to all of it. As a Black therapist, I understand the particular weight of navigating systems, families, identities, and expectations that don't always make room for you to fall apart. My clients don't have to code-switch here or explain context that other therapists might miss. I've worked with clients from adolescence through adulthood, and I know that healing isn't linear — but it is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.

My approach to therapy

My work is evidence-based and human-centered. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and a Strengths-Based framework — selecting and adapting techniques based on what actually fits you, not what's easiest for me to deliver. I don't believe in rigid scripts. I believe in showing up consistently, tracking what's working, and being honest with you when we need to shift course. My style is warm and direct. I'll ask real questions, give you real feedback, and hold you accountable in a way that feels like support — not pressure.

What you can expect from me

Expect a real conversation. Our first session isn't a checklist — it's a chance for me to understand what's been going on, what's brought you here now, and what you're hoping your life looks like on the other side of this. I'll ask questions that help me get a full picture, but you set the pace. You won't leave with homework or a 12-week plan on day one. You'll leave with clarity about what we're working on together, what my approach will look like, and — most importantly — whether we're the right fit. I take that seriously. The relationship between a client and therapist matters, and I want you to feel confident about that from session one.
