Great to meet you!
Kari is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping individuals achieve greater mental well-being through thoughtful assessment, diagnosis, and individualized treatment. Her approach is rooted in functional psychiatry, which considers not only symptoms, but also the physical, nutritional, lifestyle, and environmental factors that may contribute to mental health. She provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management, incorporating medication when appropriate as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Kari holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Nursing and graduated summa cum laude from Frontier Nursing University in 2024 with a Master of Science in Nursing. Her interest in mental health began during her psychology studies, where she developed a particular interest in humanistic and positive psychology and the factors that contribute to emotional well-being and personal growth.
Before becoming a nurse, Kari worked as a Montessori teacher, fostering her passion for nurturing growth and recognizing the unique needs of each individual. She later specialized in maternal health and lactation as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Through this work, she witnessed firsthand the profound impact of mental health on individuals and families, inspiring her to pursue advanced practice nursing in psychiatric-mental health.
Kari is currently completing the Psychiatry Redefined Functional Psychiatry Fellowship, further expanding her training in functional and integrative approaches to mental health. She is committed to ongoing education and to looking beyond symptom management to better understand the factors influencing mental health. Her goal is to partner with each client to create an individualized plan that combines evidence-based psychiatric care with a whole-person perspective.
