Great to meet you!

Hello, I am Karin. I have been in practice for twenty-three years but during those years I have also worked in inpatient and residential settings. I have worked with adolescents and adults for my entire career. I believe that the amount of years I have been practicing and the levels of care I have worked in have made me an experienced therapist who is adept at discerning diagnoses and applying evidenced based approaches in care.

Personally, I was a ballet dancer in my youth and taught ballet for a number of years. I still do occasionally.

I have 4 children and two cats and like to exercise most days of the week!

My approach to therapy

I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy. Even when doing skill-building or trauma work, this should be tailored to and in part-directed by the client, not just the therapist. I believe in recruiting all of the clients resources and innate wisdom about how to best heal and which modalities might work best.

I also believe in just connecting in a warm caring way; in bringing forth one's humanity into forging a trusting, safe relationship that is the cornerstone of any effective therapist-client relationship.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, we will review the limits of confidentiality and sign some necessary new patient paperwork. I like to obtain a psychosocial history through conversation. This usually takes most of the first session. After that we will begin formulating treatment goals.
