Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Karina. I’m a USC and UCLA alumna with a master’s degree in social work, a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology, and an associate degree in communication. I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including school social work and community-based mental health, supporting individuals and families across the lifespan—from early childhood through older adulthood.

My approach is holistic, culturally responsive, and rooted in community. I value collaboration and strengths-based work, and I strive to create a space where people of all backgrounds feel respected, supported, and understood. I believe meaningful change happens when we honor lived experiences and work together in ways that feel authentic and empowering.

My approach to therapy

I believe a client-centered, strengths-based approach is essential to meaningful growth and healing. I take into consideration each person’s environment, community, life experiences, and cultural values, recognizing how these shape who we are and how we move through the world.

My therapeutic style is holistic, engaging, and supportive, I also actively incorporate problem-solving and appropriate challenge into our work together. I believe progress often requires both support and accountability, and I work collaboratively with clients to explore patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop practical strategies that support meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a cohesive, engaging “let’s get to know you” conversation. We’ll review any necessary paperwork, assess your needs, talk about your goals, and spend time getting to know one another. I’ll ask questions, and you’re always welcome to ask me questions as well.

Think of it as a much less nerve-wracking version of a first-day-of-class introduction activity. Goal setting and treatment planning are centered entirely around you and your needs. We’ll talk about what you want from our sessions and how we can work together to get you as close as possible to those goals during our time together!
