Great to meet you!

Karmen Seltz is a psychotherapist who believes that the therapeutic relationship can build the foundation to make change. Therapy can help you make complicated decisions simpler and reinforce your successes. Often, it is a matter of helping you unlock the solution that is waiting inside you. Many successful people struggle with doing everything “perfectly,” and it can be exhausting. Therapy offers an opportunity to build self-care habits and learn new ways to cope, and taking this time for yourself will have a positive effect on your relationships as well. Karmen works with adults, couples, and families who are struggling with mood disorders, trauma, and substance use disorders. I have years of experience helping people make changes in their lives.

I received my Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and my Bachelor's Degress from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

My approach to therapy

My approach is to use a strengths based foundation and layer this with CBT therapy. I also use behavioral activation, cognitive restructuring, mindfulness, bibliotherapy, and systems therapy. My strength as a therapist is helping my clients uncover what their own strengths are in order to move through the more difficult parts of their lives.

What you can expect from me

In our first session we will talk about what has worked for you in the past and what is no longer working. We will discuss goals and coping strategies. We will also review expectations and policies and map out the view you have of the future.
