Great to meet you!

I’m Karolyn Brown, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I work with teens, adults, couples, and families, and my style is warm, practical, and grounded in evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, & Solution-Focused work.

I often help clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, major life transitions, and the complexities of blended or high-conflict families. I also do a lot of work in grief and bereavement, holding space for people who are trying to make sense of deep loss while still finding a way forward.

At the heart of my practice is creating a calm, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as we work toward meaningful, realistic change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, down-to-earth, and focused on helping you make real, sustainable changes in your life. I draw from CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused techniques, but I tailor everything to your needs rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all plan.

I work to create a safe, steady space where you can slow down, sort through what’s really going on, & practice new skills that actually support your day-to-day life. Whether we’re navigating anxiety, relationship stress, grief, depression, or major transitions, we’ll move at your pace while keeping an eye on practical steps that build resilience and confidence.

My goal is for you to feel understood, supported, and empowered—not overwhelmed.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, conversational space where we simply get to know each other. I’ll ask about what’s been going on, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope will feel different in your life. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out—just come as you are.

Together, we’ll start clarifying your goals and what support looks like for you. I’ll share how I typically work, answer any questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with the process. Most clients walk away from the first session feeling heard, grounded, and with a clearer sense of direction.

My aim is for that initial hour to feel safe, calm, & genuinely supportive—like a starting point, not a test.
